I felt a tap from behind and turned around. It was Jacob and Mark again. “I know the answer to this,” Mark said. “Here’s your last chance to join us.” I stared at the riddle. All I want is the money. When we win, I could just take the money and leave them! I accepted. Mark remarked, “The riddle’s talking about the Galaxy Casino and the roulette. It's obviously Table 14, but what’s the number?” “I thought you knew the answer!” “Let’s get there first,” Mark ignored me. “If we get on a F.L.Y., it won’t take us long.” F.L.Y. stands for Flying Lorry Yearbooks, which is a next generation transportation vehicle. Jacob and I followed Mark to the F.L.Y. station. We got on and told the driver to bring us to the Galaxy Casino. The three of us rode away from the tech hub and made our way towards the GBA’s City of Entertainment, Macau. We arrived in five minutes and entered the Galaxy Casino. Red carpet lined the floor, games of all sorts placed atop it with many people gambling, testing their luck. “Do you know what the number is now?” I asked impatiently. “Let’s see, there’s one... six, seven, eight, nine—” Jacob cried. “Wait! Seven eight nine! Seven ATE nine! Seven’s the number!” Mark instantly placed a chip on the number 7 and a key sprang out. “Finally,” I rolled my eyes. “Now where’s the last task?” “It’s engraved on the key! It says ‘Reach for the stars.’” “What does that mean?” Jacob wondered. “Wait, Jacob, can we have a talk?" Mark pointed at me, “stay here.” I watched as the two went. I trailed behind them secretively, hearing Mark say to Jacob. “Why did you want him to be on our team?” “Well, I think he deserves a chance. I know he seems like a spoiled brat but he looks like my deceased brother.” “You just met him!” “I know, but still!” “OK, keep him, but don’t say I haven’t warned you.” As I heard their footsteps coming back, I rushed back to where I was. “We were just discussing the task,” Mark lied. “It must be the highest building in Hong Kong, I.C.F.T.. It does not only surpass I.C.C. but was also named the tallest building in the world.” The three of us got on a F.L.Y. and took off. As we passed through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, my mind kept turning back to the conversation I had overheard. Was I that irritating? Am I too arrogant? But I’m the best, aren’t I?
