Knock! Knock! Knock!
“Oliver! Wake up! You’ll be late for your school trip.”
“Coming, mom!” replied Oliver.
Oliver Zachary Maxwell was an emigrant from England. Today, he was going on a school trip to a new
place. Actually, he was already in it. His house was just inside the border, and his school was right next to
his house. The new place was in Southern China, Hong Kong and Macau. Oliver went downstairs and
made himself breakfast. Ping! He looked at his mom’s phone, which had been left on the table as she went
to brush her teeth. The message was from the school app, and it said: Dear parents. The school trip has been
cancelled due to a naming competition for the area. Fortunately, the winner’s prize is a trip to the new area,
