The Amazing Cantonesia The Independent Schools Foundation Academy, Heng, Ashton - 6 According to a YouGov Omnibus research in 2017, two-thirds of people in Hong Kong think that robots should do all our hard work like cleaning and keeping us safe. I think so too, because robots are stronger than humans and can do things humans cannot do, like flying and lifting heavy things. I think Cantonesia should be the first place in the world where robots will do everything for us. In Cantonesia, residents would travel from place to place with speedbots, a robot that has wheels as feet. To control the speedbot, residents have to download an app so that they can scan the barcode on the speedbot to activate it. Another way to travel long journeys quickly would be teleporting. Residents can also wear wings to fly short distances, or if they prefer to see where they are going. In Cantonesia, the community helpers are all robots that will help each other do their job. For example, robot nurses walk around Cantonesia to look for sick and hurt people. Those who are hurt or sick will be teleported to hospitals for treatment. Operations take only one second because the robots are good and fast. All policemen will be replaced by robots. The police robots have stretchy arms to bring the criminals away. These robots decide with their scanning eyes which criminal needs to be teleported to jail. The fire department is also run by robots that can fly up to buildings to do their job. These robots have water tanks in their bodies to put out fires and can scan through fire to look for trapped people. In Cantonesia, children’s life would be very different. They can learn anything they want in school and not just English, Math and Mandarin. In the schools, the teachers are cyborgs: half human and half robot, because the teachers need to know everything a student wants to learn. The libraries are run by robots so no one would be able to steal books: the librarian robots would use their stretchy arms to pull the students to the counter and make sure they sign out the books. If students still refuse to borrow books, they will get a yellow card which gives them a second chance before punishment. There are also many playgrounds in Cantonesia. Like those in Hong Kong, there are swings, slides, sandboxes and monkey bars. But the biggest difference between the playgrounds in Cantonesia and Hong Kong is that in Cantonesia the playgrounds have soft floors and robot playmates called robo-mates. The robo-mates will play with children that are alone in the playground. The robo-mates have game buttons that you can choose. For example, children can press “tag” and the robo-mate will play Tag with them. I would be very happy to live in Cantonesia because it is a new place of technology, robots and fast transportation. The world will be a better place because Cantonesia will have the best technology in the world.
