Future Adventure of the Greater Bay Area

Time flies. It is the year of 2039 and I, Valerie has grown up and become a famous jewellery designer. I live
and work in the Greater Bay Area (“GBA”).
GBA plan was launched when I was 8 years old. Now the GBA is a real Super and Smart City. There are no
more boundaries between the cities and many high technologies are used to make our lives better. The
original smaller cities such as Hong Kong, Macau, Shenzhen and Zhuhai are all delegated for different
functions. For example, Hong Kong is an international art centre, Macau is an international meeting centre,
Shenzhen is a high-tech research centre and other cities are the industrial and agriculture bases supporting to
GBA.
As a designer, I own a studio in Hong Kong. I draw pictures of my jewellery necklace in my studio. After
finishing the drawing of my necklace, I need go to Zhuhai city and look for materials. There is a very big
trading market of gem stones in Zhuhai where I can find the beautiful sapphires for my necklace. If I need
some more man-made accessories for my necklace, I will go to Shenzhen city and have a discussion with
my suppliers about my special demand. My suppliers have used of technology to work out the cheaper
replacements of natural gem stones. They are always very popular because many young people like them.
The manufactories in Foshan or Guangzhou will help me to produce more jewellery necklaces. Sometimes,
the gallery asks my jewel works by hand-made for an art auction in Hong Kong and then they will be sold
for a good price. Every year, I join a Summit held in Macau. The Summit is very important and interesting
because I can learn some new ideas from the profession. It inspires me.
I usually take the high-speed train from Hong Kong to other places. It can arrive Macau within 5 minutes.
It is free. I don’t need to buy tickets. I talk to an artificial intelligence robot and it scans my face, and it will
know where I should get off the train. When I walk to my seat, my favourite coffee even is ready!
A Super Park is built in the GBA which connects all the smaller cities. It has both the parts of a forest over
the hills and a grand tunnel under the sea. Wild animals can be seen in the park. Inductors are placed
everywhere and AI leads everything in the park, watering the plants, relieving the noises, controlling the
humidity and so on. It is a good place to hike in the hills or have a walk through the tunnel. When I am
free, I always like going there to refresh my brain.
I really enjoy the life in GBA.
