Future Adventures in the Greater Bay Area Sha Tin Junior School, Leung, Cheviane - 10 Long ago, there was a happy family in Taiwan. They would always go on spectacular trips, taking tours and doing wonderful activities together. But when they went to the Greater Bay Area for a holiday, something changed their lives... One day, Ying Lee was watering her healthy plants at her house when Ying’s mom gathered everyone for a family meeting. Ying was in a family of four, her mom, dad, her older brother Jing, and herself. Ying’s mom said, “ It’s been a while since our last trip. I have heard some spectacular tours and activities are worth seeing in Hong Kong, Macau, and China. Some examples are “ The Great Wall Of China ”, “ Forbidden City ”, and much more. So, do you want to go? ” The Lee Family agreed. The Lee family decided that they would set off on their adventure the next day. The next morning, the Lee Family took an aeroplane to Macau. Macau was beautiful. The bright blue skies slightly touched by the soft, fluffy clouds. The air held the smell of an exciting adventure. They set off, with Ying taking pictures along the way. After a while, they arrived at one of Macau’s famous casinos. They went in, saw all the people gambling, did some shopping, had some fruit punch. Ying took pictures of everything on her polaroid camera. She put them in her bag. The Lees were exhausted after being at the casino. So they walked to a nearby shop called “ Amazing PEG ” that sold Ying’s favourite food, egg tarts. Ying especially liked the Portuguese ones, and she was overjoyed when she found out that the egg tarts from “ Amazing PEG ” were the Portuguese egg tarts. She bought two egg tarts with her life savings and instantly gobbled them up. As she gobbled the second egg tart, she realized that something was inside the egg tart! She took it out and there was a shining gemstone that shimmered under the dazzling sun. The gemstone was pale pink. Ying Lee put it in her pocket, following her parents and Jing to the next destination. “ Here we are,” said Ying’s mom, “at Ruins Of Saint Paul’s.” There was a tall, massive ancient building in front of Ying, Jing and the others. They were all excited because they had never been to an ancient building that was that old before. The Lees went in. Suddenly, she saw Jen, a friend from home. Jen ran to Ying and they had a great, big, long hug. They took two pictures together with her polaroid camera, one each. As Ying looked at her photo she noticed a shining blue jewel behind the girls in the picture. Ying looked behind her. On the floor, beside the stool was a blue gemstone. Ying guessed it was an ancient gemstone that was very rare, so she secretly put it in her pocket, protecting it from anyone and anything. Ying looked at the casino pictures she took, and surprisingly, there was also a shining jewel but in green colour behind one of the chairs in the casino! Ying told her family, before she rushed back to the casino, hoping to find that green gemstone. As she stood there disappointedly looking at where the gemstone was Ying put her hand in her pocket and found the green gemstone. She whispered to herself, “ How did this get here? ” Back with her family the Lee's took a bus to China. There, they first went to a temple to pray. Ying got a gift of hope and luck because she prayed in a proper and good - mannered way. After that, Ying and her family took the MTR ride to ChimeLong, a park, where they saw the pandas, one of the world's endangered species, and watched the sea show. The sea show was fantastic! And the audience didn’t mind getting a little bit wet because of the splashing the fish and the dolphins were making. Leaving the amazing sea show, it was getting dark. Ying and her family heard owls hooting and saw lights from houses switching off. They caught the last bus just in time to get to their home for the night, the grand hotel. When Ying went into their hotel room, she felt as if she was in a mansion! The walls were gold and silver, the room was 100% clean, and the beds were as soft as a cloud. The next morning they woke up, had some breakfast, and set off to Hong Kong. When they arrived in Hong Kong, they took a quick break by resting at a nearby coffee shop. About 1 hour later, they went to “ Sky 100 ” skyscraper to see the lovely view of Hong Kong and to have a cup of coffee. “ Wow, ” said Ying. “ this view is amazing. It’s way more beautiful than the ones in our city. ” Jing agreed. Ying’s mother looked at a poster that said “ Wonderful fireworks show! Buy 2 get 2 free! ”. Ying’s mom bought 4 tickets for a fireworks show without saying a word. They had two hours of waiting before the fireworks show started. So they took the MTR to Mong Kok to go to a shop called “ GongCha ”. There they ordered 4 bubble teas since the Lees wanted to try something new. The Lees thought it was delicious! Back at “Sky
