Adventures of the Greater Bay Area Kennedy School, Wu, Liam - 7 The Greater Bay Area has always been my home. I never considered it anything else. My family had a nice house in the centre of the Greater Bay Area. It was very big, and we had all the space we could ever want. Everything was perfect until the riots started. At first they were small, and no one paid much attention to them. But then they started getting bigger and growing more violent, with people screaming in the streets and children too scared to go to school. My best friend, Bailey and I knew we had to stop this, but how? “We must talk to the government,” Bailey said, on a sunny afternoon while we were at the beach, escaping the riots. “Mm-hm. We should, but how?” I asked. “Well …,” Bailey said, deep in thought, “since my father works in the government, we could ask him to arrange an appointment with the president.” “That’s a pretty good idea,” I said. “But so far, everything has failed ….” “Well, this might be the only way to stop the horrible riots,” she said. “Okay. I’m counting on you to ask your father tonight,” I agreed, getting up from the sand. The next morning, I met a super excited Bailey in my garden. “WE’VE GOT AN APPOINTMENT!” she shrieked as soon as she spotted me. “When?” I asked eagerly. “This afternoon. We have the whole day to prepare,” she said. “How can it be this easy?” I asked, suddenly suspicious. “Because the president himself is looking for a solution to stop the riots!” When we arrived at the president’s house, we found he did not have a kind voice. “Good afternoon. You two are one minute late,” he said. “We’re very sorry, Sir,”Bailey apologised. “Indeed.” The president turned a cold stare on me. “I was told you have a solution for the riots. Is that so?”
