Epic Wonderpark Korean International School, Chan, Lara Chin Wei - 9 1. Kyra Hello. My name is Kyra Hamilton. I have just moved here from Barbados. I love Barbados. I hate the Greater Bay Area although I have not explored it yet. I loathe the GBA! I just have this feeling that this so-called place will be horrible. Horrendous! I do not understand why the Chinese Government created this place. They are just letting Hong Kong, Macau, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou to show off their skills and build something futuristic and fancy schmancy. “Kyra! Don’t you want to take a tour of the brilliant GBA?” asked Dahlia, Kyra’s mother. “Coming, mother,” I replied curtly. How can this place possibly be brilliant? Several minutes later, we stood in front of the tour guide including my mother Dahlia, my father Aleksandar and my ignorant brother Eoin. The tour guide’s nametag read Astrid Shen in shiny letters. On her cheeks were endless layers of blusher in girly pink. She had smothered on innumerable layers of rosy red lipstick. She had coats of bronzer on her face as it had a huge tan. Her ink black hair was dyed dreadfully golden. When she waved her hand at me, her nails appeared to be baby pink and as sharp as claws. I felt like I wanted to puke at the sickening sight of her. Why are tour guides such show-offs? Possibly, it is the GBA making my life a nightmare. Once we started the tour, I figured this might not be as bad as I had thought. We stopped at numerous buildings, churches, villas, shopping centres, a replica of the Canton Tower with metallic angels flying around and the most memorable was a theme park called MystiZone. “What an oddity to find a Western theme park here,” I murmured to Eoin. He just stared ahead as if his head was in the clouds. Eoin is always like that. I have always wondered what is going on in that brain of his. 2. Eoin Welcome to my world. I am Eoin Hamilton. My sister, Kyra, thinks I am an ignorant nerd and daydreamer. However, in my opinion, everything in the world can be seen in many different perspectives. I easily agree with Kyra that the GBA is like a replica of Guangzhou, but you never know if it could be your heaven on Earth! “Would you like to explore?” chirped Ms Shen. “Yes, please! But will it cost more money?” replied my mom. “No, it’s on the house,” said Ms Shen, a fake grin plastered across her face. So we headed into MystiZone and a thought floated to me. Exploring places that are not on the tour usually costs extra money, so Ms Shen could be a murderer sent to kill us. Besides, tour guides do not wear that much makeup. Once we stepped inside MystiZone, we let out gasps of awe. We were so astounded by its grandeur. It had a neon ferris wheel with massive passenger cars, a glittery girly unicorn Merry- Go-Around, a camouflage-coloured dinosaur Merry-Go-Around and a twisty turny and shaky Fire Dragon Roller Coaster with mini Chinese dragons circling the tracks. Even the snack carts selling Shaomai, Spring Rolls and Oolong Tea looked amazing. “Wow, this place is out of the world!” Kyra squealed happily. With Kyra distracted and Ms. Shen slipping off to show her and my parents around, I sent a dart from my Nerf Gun into a container on the floor to test my shooting. I slipped my gun into my backpack and bent down to grab the shattered container. “Oh my, what was that sound?” asked Mom worriedly. “It’s nothing,” I replied, attempting to reassure her, “Just some shattered pieces of plastic.” She craned her head closer. “Oh! There’s a nametag which says …... Astrid Yan Zi Shen,” I gasped. “It’s the tour guide’s container.” I picked up the pieces. Several of the plastic pieces had metal parts connected to wires. ‘TNT201’ was engraved on a piece. But the number of bombs invented had only gone up to 200. I let out a gasp and heaved myself up. Handing Ms Shen the pieces, I shot a suspicious glance at her. At least, the bomb would not work on the person she planted it on. Four hours later, when we were leaving the park, I turned my head to look at a gigantic statue of Xi Jinping, the President of China. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a glimmer of
