I then set off with Xiao Qian again towards the headquarters of Wokou. Once outside the city walls we
located the headquarters. It was a large one-storey farmhouse surrounded by trees. By now, it was night and the
farmhouse looked dark and spooky. We crept through the trees to the edge of a small courtyard. We saw three
Wokou loading gold and treasure onto a trolley at the back door. It seemed the leader of Wokou who was holding
a lantern was reading something important. “It’s the map!” Xiao Qian said. She crept stealthily towards the leader
and tried to grab the map. The leader swung her away. The other Wokous noticed and surrounded us. I suddenly
