The New Tales of Old Shanghai Western Academy of Beijing, Zhao, Chloe - 8 G o to bed now,” said my dad. “Ok.” Today I just came back from Shanghai, and I am exhausted from having played too much! My family stayed at Waldorf - Astoria Hotel located on the Bund. As I was looking at the Bund from my hotel room, I could see so many people walking on the Bund, it was so colorful at night! I visited Disney Land too, so fun! I took a lot of pictures. My grandma and grandpa cooked so many yummy stuff, and my stomach is still full. I am going to sleep now. “Hello!” somebody whispered. “Who’s that?” I asked as I turned around in surprise. “Hello! I’m little Qiang,” the person said, “looks like you are new to Shanghai.” “Not really, my grandparents live here.” I answered. “Haha, so you are not new?” asked little Qiang. I ignored his question. “Is this even Shanghai?” I said to myself, puzzled and amazed. Everything looked so different! Majority of the buildings weren't so complex and were very low, and all the people had the same dress code, but the biggest change of all was the sky. Usually it is smoggy, and not really nice, but now, the sky was so blue with clouds that fell in irregular shapes. I have always wanted to see blue skies! “Hey, let’s play.” little Qiang said to me. “Uh, we could curl up on the sofa and play iPads?” I said. “iPads? what’s that? is it an animal? I only know cats and dogs.” said little Qiang. “Then let’s go to Disney Land!” I suggested. “Disney land?” little Qiang asked. “What’s that?” “Forget about it.” I said. So little Qiang took me to a playground. We played lots of games I didn't know. “I am so hungry.” I cried after we had played for hours. “Oh, let’s go and eat!” said little Qiang as he sat up on the slide. He led me into a building; he said it was called Shi Ku Men. We bumped into so many people! “This is my home.” said little Qiang. “Wow, your house is so big!” I said to little Qiang. “Eh, no, thank you for the compliment, but my home is on the 3 rd floor.” He said blushing. We walked up the stairs, as he opened the door, I saw that his home was so small, it only had two bunk beds, a small table, a carpet, and a small chair!
