The Master Chef

O nce in a big land in China , was a fabulous city called Shanghai , it was a beautiful place . There were so many beautiful statues amongst the elegant trees and the amazing performances of the lovely dancers were world famous . One of the most famous things about Shanghai was the delicious food that people from all around the world eat now . Shanghai was the most glamorous in cultured city in the early 1900 ' s which earned for it the reputation “ the Paris of the East ”.

Before Phillippe was born , his parents moved to Shanghai . His father was a French chef and he taught Philippe to love French food also . Philippe loved to cook as much as his father did . Philippe adored the taste and aroma of food and would always watch his parents and others cook . Philippe ' s family was not wealthy . Philippe has 2 older brothers and both of them liked to play football , they would always tease Philippe for always being in the kitchen and not playing with them . They were always ganging up on Phillipe and being mean to him but Phillipe would never fight back .
From age 6 he started to cook small dishes for his family at home . And whenever he was lucky enough to go to a restaurant , he would always be very specific of what ingredients was in the dishes he had . Whenever he had a cooking class with his dad , he would get everything right and was always be much better than the other students that Philippe ' s dad taught . Phillipe would spend a long time studying about different chefs in the world . Philippe studied the key ingredients of the most famous dishes . Their family ' s wish was to create a famous Shanghainese French dish . As he grew older he kept getting better and better and his family all adored the meals that he cooked .
Phillipe had entered many cooking competitions in the past and he was determined that he would win this one . His original dish was a deep fried dumpling pastry with steak inside and golden frites all around it . He had mastered his dish and knew what special and key ingredients that he needed .
This was the biggest competition in the whole of Asia and whoever won would get a whole bunch of money and their dish would be famous all around the world .
Philippe ' s family has used a lot of their time to help him and his family . Philippe wanted to be the one to help his family for all the good things that his parents have done for him and wants to make them proud .
Philippe thought ,
" Everyone believes in me and I won ' t let them down .”
All the hard work that he put into his cooking would all pay off now .
At the competition , he was really nervous , it felt like there was a bunch of butterflies in his tummy . He was really worried that he wouldn ' t finish cooking it in time , or if the judges wouldn ' t like the food that he cooked . There was a lot of other contestants and everyone looked much more confident than him and they were already at their tables and had everything set up .
Philippe walked up to his allocated table and unpacked all his ingredients that he needed . He got the oven ready and cooking pans . When the judges came out , they introduced themselves and said everyone had 40 minutes to finish cooking their dish . Phillipe was so nervous that his hands were shaking and sweating so much .
