Solitary Island

W inter has arrived . Eighteen-year old Mitsuo was wandering in the streets of Hiroshima , looking for a job .

He was the only child of his family , and they were really poor . He was about to give up when he saw an advertisement for a soldier . Mitsuo knew that the army would pay him well if he joined . They would also give hi a house . He made up his mind and decided to join the army . Mitsuo didn ’ t have any military experience . However , he was very good at sports , so that might help .
Mitsuo spent two years training in the army . He learned to use guns , knives , swords and other weapons . Soon , he became the sniper of the army . He also learned how to communicate in code and undertook obstacle courses , and extreme physical training . Soon , he transformed from a short and skinny beggar to a tall and strong soldier .
Mitsuo was sent to his first war against China . He was flown to Shanghai and started firing his gun . But then he realized that lots of innocent people would die . He dropped his gun and ran away from the battlefield . He found an abandoned house far away . He decided that he would find a way to stop the war .
One day , Mitsuo overheard the General talking about the Japanese army ’ s strategy for attack . Mitsuo immediately wrote a letter to the enemy , telling them about Japan ’ s plans . He ran away from the army soon after , when they found out . His family was forced to leave their new house . Mitsuo was a wanted criminal , with a one million dollar reward for his capture .
The letter eventually reached the Chinese General . The General did not know whether to trust the information or not . He decided to trust him because his spy told him that it was true after he knew about Mitsuo ’ s escape . Japan has now found out about Mitsuo ’ s letter to the Chinese General . They were immediately forced to stop the war . Even though Mitsuo knew that his plan worked , he also knew that he had to leave Hiroshima or even Japan .
Everybody in China , especially Shanghai were very grateful . China decided to thank Mitsuo by inviting him to live in China with his family . He gave him his own house and a lot of money . Soon a Chinese spy took them to a special helicopter used for secret transportation . Mitsuo became famous all around China and Shanghai . Finally , the helicopter landed in China and Mitsuo and his family started to live a new and happy life .
