The Shanghai Battle of Immortals

O n a cold night in 1937 , a figure walked through the snow to the Temple of Doom . “ What brings you here
General ? I ’ m tired , leave before I too turn you into stone .” The Demon ’ s voice thundered through the temple . “ I would like to ask you if you would be interested in joining us , the Japanese to conquer the famous city in China , The Old City . We aim to defeat the God overlooking that place .” The evil Demon was intrigued . She shooed him away and got ready to help the Japanese ’ s pending attack . The next day a swarm of soldiers came into her temple to worship her while she enchanted magical spells onto each of them . Granting protection and ever lasting endurance .
Back at the city , the Chinese General had heard the rumoured news of the upcoming attack . He sprinted down the path to the Royal Temple and begged the statue of the God whom overlooked their city for his aid . The General wore a long , blue and white robe , it was his favourite . The God had expected his visit , with that being said he was prepared , “ I ’ ve already built a wall and moat around the city . I , along with my celestial guardians will be protecting and over watching every move . Inform your men to come tomorrow , I shall grant them with powerful enchantments , providing them with power and impenetrable protection .”
The celestial lions , horses along with other guardians were joyfully chasing each other around the Royal Garden when they were summoned . Knowing what happened , as angry as fire , they sparked as they stampeded down towards the city to cast the protection barrier on the citizens . The spell was made to withstand the test of fifty years , however it grows weaker and weaker by the day .
“ That wrecked God , helping the citizens , outrageous !” bellowed the Demon . The Japanese dropped ten or so bombs throughout the city , which to no surprise did zero damage . The celestial animals managed to finish casting the barrier just before the first bomb hit .
The Demon ’ s temper grew as she became impatient . Flying out of her lair , she summoned her trusty friends , the warlocks . The warlocks already knew what all the fuss was about and they wanted to collect their share of the conquered land . So without the Japanese ’ s knowledge they had infused the city with sulphur gas prior to the implementations of the barrier . “ Any time now .” The snide warlocks reported to the Demon .
The sulphur gas had been taking effect long before the warlocks had expected . However , the sulphur gas turned from transparent into a purplish black . God witnessed his people dying at a rapid pace , he immediately instructed everyone to the high mountains while he descended down to the lower lands to cleanse the city of the toxic gas . At last , the citizens were safe , high up touching the clouds . The exhausted God carefully defused the gas , making sure to not cause more harm .
Days passed , the Demon witnessed God becoming increasingly exhausted by applying himself harder than he ever had . Laughing at God , she had a backup plan if sulphur didn ’ t work . It was to attack the city at dawn , she called a meeting with her old friends and the Japanese General . While the meeting was in motion , one of the God ’ s spy , dressed like the Demon ’ s servant overheard everything . With God sending out his warning , the Chinese General caught first wind of the news the night after .
The Old City God also held a meeting in heaven . He invited some special guests , the Sea Dragon King , the wise wizards and the celestial animals . They thought of different tactics to protect the city at night . Finally , they all agreed on one plan , “ The celestial animals and the wize wizards shall use their powers to conjure a repel shield around the city . That way anything aimed at the city will be targeted back to it ’ s origins .” However they did not
