The Old Shanghai War

here once was a boy called John. He was thirteen years old. He had spiky and brown hair. He was very smart
and creative. He loved science very much. He always got full marks on that subject. He was curious about
the past; therefore, he invented a time machine to go back to the past.
One day, his teacher told him to do research on 'the Old Shanghai's Living Habits'. After a few nights
thinking, he finally decided to use the time machine to go back to 1839's Shanghai to see what was happening
there.
When he arrived there, he heard gun shots, swords and explosions. Then, he looked around and saw a
group of European and Shanghainese yelling and fighting with each other. John was very frightened so he wanted
to find a place to hide himself but unfortunately he could not find a safe place. He had no choice and calmed
himself down. He then slowly and carefully walked towards the Shanghainese. He asked them loudly about their
living habits but no one cared about him. John thought “Everyone only cares about the war. No one cares about
me. I must bring peace and harmony to this country. I must think some ways to help these people.”
John bravely came in front of them and said “No fighting. All of you please listen. If you guys cooperate
and work together... “Listen kid, WE WILL NEVER BE NICE TO EACH OTHER!" said one of the European
walking towards him. Everyone yelled loudly “WE WON'T LOSE TO THEM, NEVER!” Suddenly, everyone
started to fight again. John was a little bit angry. He used his highest voice to shout again “Please, just listen to me!
You can be stronger together!” They continued to ignore him and keep fighting.
Suddenly, John angrily shouted “Listen up, you guys keep fighting and many people dies. If you guys just
stick together, you won't die and you will be stronger!" All the people stopped fighting and looked at each other.
Then, a man said" Maybe the kid is right. We could make a great team together." Everyone agreed and shake
hands with each other. After that, they happily shouted “Thank you for bringing peace to this war!”
Few hours later, the whole Shanghai was back to normal. John asked a Shanghai person about the living
habits of Shanghai. The person answered all the questions that he asked and gave him food to eat for saving
Shanghai. After John ate the food, he had to go back to the future. Everyone said goodbye to John and he used the
Time Machine to go back.
The next day in the future, John went to school with 50 pages of research about Shanghai's living habits
and talked about it for the whole history lesson. His teacher was very impressed and gave him a “School's best
history student” award.
He continued to use the Time Machine to do research about histories and became the world's most
smartest kid in history.
