Ying quickly got dressed and ate her breakfast as usual. Then she went out the door. The busy Shanghai street welcomed her once more. Watching the street, Ying suddenly realized that the street was the best place for the art competition. It was full of wonderous stories, and it was the part of Shanghai that she knew best. Realizing this, Ying got to work straight after school. 3 months later Ying went home after school and started doing her homework. Time had went by since Ying handed in her art competition entry paper. She had long since forgotten the competition. Ying took out a pink scrapbook. Her homework was to do a news review. Ying went to the newspaper cupboard, and took out the newspaper for today. Thinking the task dull, Ying started reading. Halfway through the newspaper, an article caught Ying’s eye. It was a post of the results of an art competition 3 months ago. And there, under the banner of Champion, was Ying’s picture, Down the Shanghai Street. Ying was surprised. She had forgotten the competition. Excited, Ying showed the article to her mother. Her mother was overjoyed. “You could earn a living by drawing.” she said. Ying was delighted with her mother’s words. Now she had a dream of her own-to be an artist.
