New Tales of Old Shanghai

Hai 173 million years ago , there lived a Cryolophosaurus named Hai . Since he was 5 , he asked his family why he had this name but no one knew . His Dad then had an idea , “ Go ask the Time Ghost in Professor Antarctopelta ’ s lab .” So he went to ask Professor Antarctopelta and Time Ghost but neither of them could have an answer . Then Time Ghost said , ‘’ I heard of a place called Shanghai in China though .’’ And he used his time travelling power to teleport Hai .
The Teleportation Error In a flash , Hai found himself being teleported to year 1577 … by mistake . They were supposed to visit the dinosaurs in the Cretaceous Period nearby Shanghai . But in the place they landed they could see beautiful pagodas and shimmering water ponds with lotus flowers . Hai took a deep breath and said , “ The air is really fresh here .’’ Suddenly a man shouted : “ Arhhh … a DINOSAUR !!! Run for your life .” The servant next to the man said , “ You must be joking , Master Pan ! Dinosaurs have been extinct for a long time .” Master Pan said , “ It ’ s true ! Come and see it for yourself !’’ The crowd came around and said “ BOOOOOOOOOO ’’ ‘’ BEHIND YOU !’’ The crowd screamed and ran away .
Time Ghost said : ‘’ There was a mistake , let ’ s go to 2017 ’’, so they teleported again .
Modern Days On the way to the portal of Shanghai , Time Ghost showed some China history ( 317-1912 ) before they arrived there on 13 th September 2017 . Across the street they saw a 5-year old girl , Shen being ABANDONED and crying helplessly . They went to help and asked her what had happened . Shen cried , “ Me and my mom has an argument as I COMMAND her to stop laughing at my name . She got mad and just left .’’ Hai said ‘’ I see , are you okay now ? But I AM STARVING , shall we go to have some food .” “ Me 2 ”, said Time Ghost . “ Me 3 !” said Shen with a rumbling tummy . “ Come on , I know a place nearby where we can find good things to eat ”, Shen told them . “ Yuyuan Bazaar has yummy traditional Shanghainese food called Xiao long bao which is a kind of dumpling with meat .” Hai said , “ Sounds delicious !” When they arrived there , Hai shouted , “ It is the GARDEN we mistakenly landed 400 years before . It didn ’ t change much , only the buildings look older ”. After eating , Shen brought them to The Bund for sightseeing . Walking on the riverside promenade , they saw tall buildings across Huangpu River . Shen told them , “ There is Pudong , full of new commercial buildings .”
Mystery solved “ The mystery …”, Hai suddenly remembered and told Shen their mission to come here . Shen smiled and explained , “ The word HAI means ocean in Chinese , maybe you were born near water .” “ Wait … I forgot to tell you something !” Hai asked , “ What ?” Shen said , “ I think we are meant to be FRIENDS !!! Hi-5 !!!” She continued , “ My Dad told me that Shanghai was once called SHEN long long time ago .”
Afterwards , Hai returned home excitedly telling his family about how he had solved the mystery and the amazing reunion with a friend that lived millions of year later in the future .
