The Hidden Shanghai Dumpling Recipe

onk ! Honk !” went the loud horn of the boat pulling into Shanghai . The boat was from Japan and the
Japanese on board wanted to control Shanghai because it was an important city of trade . But little did they know that a criminal from Tokyo had stowed away on their boat . This guy was called Kaito . Kaito had black hair and a brown coat like a detective . He had black shoes that were thin and long . Kaito crept out as quickly and as silently as he could off the ship .
He made his way from the docks to Shanghai . He saw a humongous wall surrounding the city . The wall was used to keep out criminals and to keep the people in Shanghai City safe . He tilted his head and saw the Japanese army digging a tunnel . He was a clever and patient man so he decided to wait until they had finished . They used an enormous long shovel and they used their hands , which were quite messy afterwards . Minute passed minute . Hour passed hour . “ It ’ s been 5 whole hours . When are they going to be done ’ he thought impatiently . “ It ’ s taking a long time to be done ”.
Finally he saw they had finished . Kaito walked innocently around the wall , and when he was in front of the tunnel and the Japanese soldiers weren ’ t looking , he dove in as quick as lightning . He crept slowly through the tunnel . It was all wet and muddy . “ This is going to be hard since there ’ s a country invading ” he whispered to himself . He was on a secret mission to find the famous hidden Shanghai dumpling recipe , so it would make him rich . The emperor had given him a map to find it and if he did , both his country and he would be rich . But he had to creep through the streets of Shanghai without being discovered .
Kaito held the map up . “ This is nonsense I can ’ t even read this ” he muttered , not knowing it was upside down until he turned it around and it began to make sense . Feeling embarrassed , he looked around at Shanghai city . He saw quaint shops and ladies dressed in cheongsam dresses .
He wandered around the streets for a bit . Then the map told him to go to Yu Gardens , a famous place in Shanghai . He asked people in the street how to get there . But they only pointed . It didn ’ t help at all . He read the map and it told him to take a tram , that said “ Yu Garden ” on it . “ ohhh ” Kaito groaned “ I have to find the tram now .” So he strolled along the streets for a bit . He passed some dim sum restaurants and more quaint shops . Kaito felt exhausted looking so he asked someone in the shops if they could help him find the “ Yu Garden ” tram . With a little help he found it .
A girl was wandering around the streets in a beautiful cheongsam . Her dad was in the army but was very sick . He had a very bad cold and fever , he was coughing very hard . He got sick because he drank dirty water . This girl ’ s name was Rosie . She saw Kaito and thought he was acting strange and guilty . “ Ah ha ” Rosie said quietly to herself “ I will get my dad ’ s army suit . I ’ ll pretend I ’ m a boy and follow him .” She tied her long black hair in a bun and put on her dad ’ s army suit .
She thought to herself about a boy ’ s name in case someone asked her . Lucky for her she had a brother called Cameron so it was easy to use his . She saw Kaito waiting for the tram that said “ Yu Garden ” in big bold letters . She sprinted back to her house and got her father ’ s suit . She ran to Yu Garden and she got there just in time . The tram pulled up next to Yu Garden . She waited until Kaito got off . Yu Garden was magnificent . It had some trees growing around it and there were some temples too . She saw Kaito running as fast as his legs could take him . She did the exact same . Then Kaito stopped in a temple .
