take me to my parents .” Ok ” I said relieved . Outside the shed , I saw a rickshaw that looked as if it had been used for a very long time already . “ Get on please .” The man asked . “ Don ’ t I have to pay ?” “ It is ok . You don ’ t have to ”
We set off into the road where the lady took me and then thankfully we were back out of the hutong in the main street . I noticed that is was beginning to get dark . Suddenly the man said ,” There are your parents ,” he pointed to a man and a woman sitting on a wooden bench . My body jumped and I looked up . I stared at the people and saw that they were not my parents . My mom had long brown hair and my dad had a long beard . Neither of the people had any of this . “ They are not my parents ,” I stuttered . My heart felt as if a heavy stone had fallen on to it . “ They ’ re not ?” The man asked carefully .” Well then , I am sorry . I thought they were your mom and dad .” I didn ’ t answer . How would I ever find my parents again ?
