Trudeau Traveling Through Time Creative Primary School, Leung, Theodore - 9 M any people knew of Justin Trudeau as Canada’s prime minister. And many people also knew that he was a French, Social Studies and Math teacher before he was interested in running for public office. But many people did not know that he had wanted to be an inventor ever since he was a kid. So whenever he was free, he would use his spare time to construct a time machine. His plan was to travel back in time to learn about history. He thought learning about the past would make him a better prime minister. Trudeau spent a lot of time building the time machine. His big idea was to travel to France to learn about the French Revolution. He wanted to practice his French and to experience one of the most important periods in history. So one day, he sat in front of the time machine and pressed “France” and “1789.” But because he did not study engineering when he was in school, his time machine was a bit wacky. His time machine did not take him back to France, instead it took him to the French Concession in Shanghai. It did not take him back to the year 1789 but 1920. Being an adventurous politician, he had no problems with this destination. Trudeau walked around the French Concession and saw a few policemen chatting near the police station. Being a friendly prime minister, Trudeau gave them two thumbs up and then strolled down the street. Trudeau was not sure where he was heading. But the view was quite nice. He saw some tea houses, some villas, and many shops. He then walked toward the iron railing and the scenery suddenly was very different. The streets were very narrow and filled with many Chinese people. Suddenly, he saw two Chinese men running out from a grocery shop nervously. The shopkeeper was yelling and shouting. Trudeau did not understand what the Chinese man was saying but he was sure that the runaways were robbers. Being a courageous man, Trudeau chased after them. The robbers climbed over the North Gate and then quickly disappeared from the crowd. Trudeau decided to report to the police in the French Concession. To his surprise, the officers told him that they could not do anything because the robbers committed their crimes in the Old City, not in the French Concession. They also told him that he should be glad that he was not killed while chasing them. But Trudeau was not dismayed nor afraid. He was determined to catch those robbers by himself. After all, he was Canadian’s bravest prime minister. Trudeau thought of a way to attract and capture the robbers. He had to first make the robbers go back to the Old City. He put up posters everywhere in the French Concession the next day and suggested there was going to be a golden egg hunt in the City God Temple before noon. Trudeau then went to the Old City police station and told the police that the robbers were coming. He then bought some eggs from the street market and painted them gold. He put the eggs around the Temple and within an hour, a lot of people arrived. Unfortunately, Trudeau could not recognize the robbers from the crowd. He was anxious and angry. He realized that he had to think of another method to catch the robbers. But time was running out. If he could not catch the robbers by dusk, he might not be able to get back in time to make that Canada Day speech the next day. He thought and thought but he still could not think of a solution. He then went into the temple to avoid the angry crowd and decided to ask the City Gods for help. Unfortunately, the gods did not give him any hints. Trudeau felt disappointed. He decided to walk back to the French Concession. As he was walking, he thought if the City Gods the Chinese believe in could not help him, maybe the Catholic God the French believed in could help. So Trudeau went into the Saint Ignatus Cathedral and prayed. Unfortunately, God did not inspire him either.
