Going To The Past Green Oasis School, Hu, Annie – 8 I n 2017 Friday 13 th January the weather was freezing cold. When I came home from school I was thinking about Old Shanghai. How I wish I was in the past! As I thought about it, I bumped into my friend Wendy. “Do you want to walk home with me?”I asked her, as I strolled down the road. She said, “Yes” so we walked home with her but on the way we saw a green light. I asked her, “Should we follow or go home?” She said, “I’ll go and ask our mum first.” When she came back she said, “Our mums said ok but we have to be back by sunset” so we walked of together. The green light was actually a time travel machine that could take us to the past! We looked at each other and suddenly both of us slammed opened the door and jumped in. There was about one thousand buttons! I spotted a button that could take us to Old Shanghai! I pressed the button and off we went! The machine was as fast as a train! You could hear the wind blowing smelly awful air and taste the sweet water. When we got there we went under the Eastern gate and then we went to Eastern water gate, we even saw the old city wall! When Wendy looked at her watch there was only four hours until sunset! Suddenly a girl asked us to play with her so we played with her. We taught her the games we played and she taught us the games they played. But suddenly, I heard a whirring sound! I gasped and told them to go home. When we were back home my friend asked me why do we need to go home? I told them the whirring sound means there is going to be a tornado! We waited until the tornado was over then came out. “That was a scary tornado”, I said relieved. But time flew past and it was time to go home. We told her we have to go so we jumped back in the machine and went back.
