old-fashioned house that looked like houses in old movies with big China vases and funny flowery wallpaper.
Alex introduced Tommy to his family. Tommy found it funny to see how these relatives looked compared to how
they looked in the year 2016. Unfortunately, some had died before Tommy was born, which was sad, but now he
got to meet them. They had lots of fun and celebrated Alex’s sister Amy’s birthday. They had a great party and
took lots of photos with a gigantic box which they called a camera. It looked nothing like a camera to Tommy.
Tommy started missing his family, that was when he wondered how he could be teleported back without
the machine with him. When he told Alex that he needed the teleport machine to go back to year 2016, Alex
started to believe what Tommy told him was true. So, they went to Alex’s room to discuss what to do. They were
feeling quite hopeless when Tommy sat down on Alex’s bed and suddenly yelled ‘Ouch”. He sat on something
hard. What was it? He removed Alex’s blanket and to his surprise, he saw a teleporting machine there. There was a
note that read “Time is up, go home Tommy.” Tommy and Alex hugged and said their goodbyes and with a
flash, he was gone.
When Tommy opened his eyes, he was back in his room like nothing had happened. He missed his
parents so much that he ran to find them. He woke up his mum and asked her, “Did you miss me and did you
look for me?” His mum said, “Did you have a bad dream? Last night you went to bed early, and it is only 3a.m.
now.” Tommy was sure it was not a dream but he decided it would be too hard to explain teleportation to his
parents right now.
The next morning, he went to Grandpa’s room, and it was funny seeing him as a seventy-five year old
man again. Tommy asked if he could look through some of his old photos, which were all in black and white. He
took special notice of the birthday celebrations. Tommy could not believe his eyes when he saw himself in the
photo standing next to the young Alex. It was at Auntie Amy’s birthday party. He remembered all the people in
the photo and the details of the party. Tommy was speechless. Grandpa asked Tommy what was wrong, but for
now, Tommy decided to keep it as a secret. The only ‘person’ he told was his dearest science journal.
