Visitors to Shanghai

olly ’ s dream was to become a tour guide . One day , she suddenly found herself in 1920 , in Shanghai , on the Bund . She was so shocked that she nearly fainted .
She saw women wearing pretty gowns . She thought they were a little bit strange but still beautiful . It was very hot and humid . It was summer that day . Oh no ! There were no air-conditioners nor electric fans . Polly was feeling not so comfortable at that time . But she got used to the weather after a few minutes . She ate a lot of delicious food like Siu Long Bao , Cha Siu Bao , Nai Wong Bao and noodles there . The food were finger-licking and they were very yummy . She was surprised that the streets were so narrow and there were very few cars . Instead there were many horse-carriages . The buildings around were short . She heard horses neighing and people talking loudly .
She saw some visitors and tour guides . Polly followed them . First the visitors went shopping for clothes . The women bought a lot of beautiful dresses , they were so happy . Men bought many T-shirts . They were glad , too . Then they went to a western restaurant to have juicy steak for lunch . After the meal they went for the Huangpu river tour . The ship was very slow but they all enjoyed the very beautiful views . Coming out from the ship they went around the Bund . They saw many old buildings there , such as the General Post Office Building , the Cathy Hotel and the Peace Hotel . The visitors were astonished by the grand buildings .
After the tour , Polly asked the visitors whether they liked Shanghai or not . Some of them said yes , because the buildings were amazing and the food was very delicious . But some of them said no , because they thought the trip was very boring , they nearly fell asleep . And the streets were really really dirty . ‘’ We will never come to this stupid place again ! Never ever again !’’ they shouted . Polly was quite disappointed when she heard this and stormed back into their carriage . ‘’ Wait , wait !’’, Polly cried . ‘’ What now ?’’, the visitors shouted together . She then took those people who did not like Shanghai another tour . Polly took them to eat the local food . They ate Siu Long Bao , Cha Siu Bao , Nai Wong Bao and noodles in a local restaurant . The visitors had never tasted this before . ‘’ Can ’ t you smell the fragrance of the flowers , you cannot smell this in a busy city !’’ ‘’ You are right .’’ The visitors replied . Polly continued ,’’ Life is so different ! You should be ashamed of yourself for saying such things . You guys are really stupid !’’
‘’ We have to admit it , that this place is really nice ! Thanks for taking us on a tour again ! We will visit here again soon . Bye !’’ When the visitors went back to their homes , they told their friends how great Shanghai is , and their friends ’ friends told their friends how great Shanghai was . But the story still hasn ’ t really ended yet up to now . More and more and more visitors came to Shanghai . The number of visitors is still increasing each year . Most of all , Polly achieved her dream , which was to become a tour guide . She often traveled to different amazing countries now . She enjoyed her job very much .
