ld Shanghai with a lot of traditional Shanghai building, you can feel a real Old Shanghai life style and an
environment changes of this city. When walking along the lovely lanes of old Shanghai Street and you can
see traditional Shanghai buildings but while turning around a modern fancy building in front will surprise us.
Zhujiajian is a water town and beautiful waterways with a 1,700 history, known as Shanghai’s Venice.
Shanghai speak Shanghai dialect, which is dialect of Northern Wu.
The lifestyle of Old Shanghai, clubs, nightlife, fashion , pretty girls in Cheongsams, handsome man with hats
and a lot of foreigners.
The most popular Shanghai dishes are steamed Hairy Crab (Da Zha Xie), beggar’s chicken, thousand
year-old eggs, smelly tofu, smoked fish slices and little dragon bun (Xiao Long Bao). But the special and common
in shanghai cuisine is sugar used in combination with soy sauce.
For the very famous Old Shanghai style women dress is Cheongsam (Qipao). As a traditional Chinese dress,
qipao is like a wonderful blossom in China’s bright colored fashion scene. It is featured by stand collar, right side
opening, fitting waist and slip bottom.
In order to know more about old Shanghai, Chan Yee Ming and Lau Wo Yee were planned to visit the old
Shanghai and they would like to ride on the Fast Trains called high speed rail.
When they arrived in old Shanghai, they noticed that people speak in Shanghai dialect only, so they totally
do not understand what the people was talking about. So they been walking and walking until they reached
Fangbin Road and they found Yuyuan Garden which they have planned to visit. Badly, while they were enjoying
the peace and comfort, Chan Yee Ming stepped onto the dog stool.
In an afternoon, they felt very hungry and would like to look for the yummiest traditional food of old
Shanghai. Chan Yee Ming and Lau Wo Yee were going for lunch in Old Shanghai Street.
They found a very famous restaurant called “三六九”. They have ordered several award-winning dishes,
such as Xiao Long Bao and Hairy Crab (Da Zha Xie), smoked fish slices, thousand year old eggs and smelly tofu.
The foods were so yummy, they keep eating and eating.
After lunch, they were planned to check in to hotel. On the way to hotel, they found a lot of hawkers selling
different kind of fruits on the street. They have bought watermelon and persimmon, which is very fresh and sweet.
They been eating so much again.
Next, they were not feeling well, they keep vomit and diarrhea. Oh no, there is only one toilet in the room.
So Lau Wo Yee has to use the toilet in the hotel lobby.
Finally, they went to visit doctor and doctor said Hairy Crab (Da Zha Xie) and persimmon cannot be mixed
together. So this is a good experience for us to know about the food combination.
