Honduras registered an economic growth of 3.7 percent in 2018, lower by 1.1 percent compared to 4.8 percent in 2017, according to the Central Bank of Honduras (BCH).

Despite this decrease, the president of the BCH, Wilfredo Cerrato, stressed that the percentage reached is higher than the behavior of the rest of the countries of the Central American isthmus. "These figures are official, we had an economic growth of 3.7 percent, Honduras was the country that grew the most in Central America, excluding the Dominican Republic and Panama," Cerrato said.

On the other hand, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) grew by 4 percent, mostly from the United States and Mexico, a trend similar to that registered in previous years, according to the same report.

Wilfredo Cerrato also highlighted the results obtained last year in terms of inflation (4.22%) and a devaluation (75 cents - 3.18%) to what the experts had estimated.
