Dayton hosting a HoliDayton Celebration

It’ s the most wonderful time of the year. Dayton residents are invited to attend the Second Annual HoliDayton Celebration on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 6 to 8 p. m. Festivities will take place at Dayton City Hall, 12260 S. Diamond Lake Road.
Enjoy a night of magical holiday fun with attractions including a light parade, tree lighting, pictures with Santa and the Grinch, bonfire with s’ mores, food trucks and kids activities.
The Holiday Light Parade begins at 6:15 p. m. and will run from Raintree Plaza down Balsam Lane and onto Pineview Lane.
The Tree Lighting Ceremony is at 6:45 p. m. Witness the magical moment when the holiday tree comes to life when Santa’ s elves share their magical fairy dust to light the holiday tree.
Following the Tree Lighting Ceremony, meet Santa and get a picture
on the fire truck. The Dayton Police Department caught the Grinch, who will be posing for pictures, but he doesn’ t always like being told what to do.
Kids activities include pretend ice fishing, pop and toss and snowball games.
The Magic Mailbox is also back. There will be special stationary to use to write and send Santa a letter at City Hall. Be sure all letters are dropped off by Dec. 5 to ensure Santa gets them in time. Parents make sure your child’ s envelope is addressed with their full name and address.
Motorist note: South Diamond Lake Road will be closed at 6:15 p. m. for the light parade. If people plan to attend, arrive before 6 p. m. Parking is available at Central Park and Dayton Elementary School. Visit daytonmn. gov for more information.
