Rutland County’s Hometown Heroes Welcome to the Hometown Heroes special section for Law Enforcement, part of a series of sections recognizing local professionals and volunteers who do extraordinary things every day in our communities. This edition, we offer profi les of several different aspects of local law enforcement offi cers — from the Academy in Pittsford where cadets are trained and certifi ed to be come law enforcement offi cers, as well as receive continued training through their careers — to profi les of a variety of offi cers, with two legs and with four, who work to protect the public safety every day. We weren’t able to do justice to the full range of people who serve in this profession, but we hope to return to fi nd them in a future edition. We hope you enjoy this section and join us in extending our heartfelt thanks to these men and women — and K-9s! — who make our county and state safer. -Rutland Herald INDEX ACADEMY PREPS OFFICERS ........................... 4-5 WARDEN EARNS ACCOLADE ........................ 6-7 TROOPER RETIRES AFTER THREE DECADES ...... 8-9 HONORING THE FALLEN ...........................10-11 RUTLAND K-9 ............................................12-13 INFORMATIONAL PAGE .............................14-15 General Manager Rob Mitchell Sales Manager Tim Duguay Creative Services Manager Keri Franzoni Content Rutland Herald staff Advertising Jeff Buckman, Danielle Goldsmith, Lori Pinsonault Circulation Melody Hudson Design Kristen Boudreau, Fran Grabowski, Jim Haley Photography Rutland Herald staff & provided photos Rutland Herald | 77 Grove Street, Suite 102, Rutland, VT | www.rutlandherald.com | 800-498-4296 ©2019 BRUNSWICK PUBLISHING ALL RIGHTS RESERVED EREMY PERKINS, RIGHT, K9 INSTRUCTOR AT VERMONT POLICE ACADEMY AND LEBANON POLICE OFFICER, RUNS THROUGH THE SUGAR HOLLOW BROOK AT THE PITTSFORD RECREATION AREA WITH K9 IN TRAINING RUSH, CENTER, WHO WAS TRAINING TO BE A MEMBER OF THE SOUTH BURLINGTON POLICE DEPARTMENT WITH OFFICER SARAH BELLAVANCE, LEFT.
