Cabot The Cabot Fire Department started prior to 1873 and serves Cabot. It provides mutual aide to Marshfield, Plainfield and Walden, and has been also requested by Barre, Hardwick, Woodbury, Peacham and Danville. The department is fully staffed by volunteers 24 hours a day. The original 1873 engine house site was located on Cabot Commons. The current site was acquired in 1966, and in 1972 a lean-to and in 1992 two additional bays were added. A new firehouse is being built that will hold larger equipment. The department operates on $50,000 stipend and proceeds from fund-raisers to help support purchase of equipment. The department sponsors a yearly pancake breakfast held on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, as well as the annual 4th of July Parade.
