I'm left to smile at the discombob ulation and maybe here or there drop a thought of the proper bearing into old age. As children grow into adulthood, they improvise upon the script we played out as their parents and train their skills in the way that will enable the m to claim everything as their ow n doing, but this, being part of the natural process , does not mea n they have to act contrary to the will of their parents . For us, the sight of their failures and repeated attempts might seem foolis h rejection of certain notions, mannerisms, or systems perfected by earlier generations, the correct adaptation of survival skills that apply to their role as adults and parents. Doubt they'll ever ask you what your views are, so might as well offer the m to fill the space of your conversations with the m. Life situations tha t nourished our adulthood have left little more than a pile o f empty shells spread across the table, days without direction, weeks in which days have blank spaces, and months suspended beyond any affectionate contact with humanity. This literary excursion called "Ho meless in Paris" addresse s aspects of leading a life detached fro m identification with nuclear fa mily, intended to achieve secure individuality. Being unidentified as ho meless, negates geopolitical affiliation and offers ipso facto affirmation of dependency strictly upon the survival instinct. I was able to study the patterns of behavior; motions, sounds of people living under the dome of Urba n Aggravation during the pre vailing circumstances of crowding, noise, filth, and dangers of the inner city. In that situation, life's purpose as a human is an obvious manifestation of utter frustration with, and a conco mitant loss of faith in materialistic aspirations. The ho meless have chosen a state of depression in order to escape modern involve ments; consumption, transportation, celebration, co mmunication, and interactio n with anything we do as individuals concerned to eke out a huma n experience fro m our life upon the face of the earth. And to leave it slightly somehow improved. The media has become a vehicle specifically designed to facilitate communication between the forces that profit and those targeted as consumers, the result of competition being the wasteful disposal of more than the natural resources than are needed to sustain the world's population many times over eac h 261
