Taught to the Tune of the Hickory Stick
We grow up by imitating behaviors that becomes second
nature to a person during his maturation. Friends and family
often inflict pain on us, communicating an atte mpt by the
aggressor to impose his presence and somehow impinge his will
upon the control center in the mind of his victim. The forms o f
these attacks and the weapon of loud unending abrasive noises
vary according to circumstances; infants screa m at a sleeping
mother, violating her rest. Nasty grimaces come into play whe n
the child gains control over the facial muscles, and the co mmand
of language skills impro ve - rebellious politicking. We learn
restraints through our experiences.
The logistics of politicking and bartering tradeoffs such as
not sassing back a teacher in order to be rewarded with a bedtime
story, not squealing to the parents if a sibling beats me up. The
progression of aggressiveness increases from stage to
developmental stage, but it's the love and warmth; a n
understanding and empathetic ear, that helps me get clear o n
everything that's rattling inside my brain. In short, the pains o f
life are unbearable but we learn to endure the m. Pain see ms to
be a common deno minator of all life forms, I wonder how an
electron feels when it pops out of its orbit, and if it emits a
shriek, or cries as it does.
My anthropological research doesn't reach a concl usion as to
man's ability to perpetuate evil. This is not a cause and
reco mpense scenario; I attach no blame but encourage shared
culpability as neighbors trapped in the urban dile mma; we could
all benefit from universal improvement of quality education th at
encourages self-realization of personal talents and strengths; a n
entirely human disposition expressed in acts of kindness. Most
people accept the dictates of the system of status based on the
whims of cultural merchants. They consider their options wit hin
the realm of possibility and coin phrases such as their
occupation being the calling of their soul. Some choose
homeless ness as an exclusive realm of the soul and form their
existence accordingly. A person can satisfy the need for tactile
