The town is a municipality of the province of Malaga consisting of three main urban areas:

The old town is a picturesque, colorful, typical Andalucian village in the foothills of the mountains with sweeping views over the coast. Its narrow, flower filled white cobbled streets, hot red geraniums appear to be the most popular plant, with the occasional shop or bar are well worth visiting. During the evening Benalmádena Pueblo is a favorite place to eat with many decent restaurants in the vicinity of Plaza de España.

Benalmadena Costa is home to the majority of the areas attractions, the foremost of which is probably the golden sandy beaches, which run off into the Mediterranean Sea. There are restaurants and bars to suit all types and tastes and the area retains a relaxed friendly atmosphere all year round.

Arroyo de la Miel translates to ‘Honey Stream’ is a former sleepy village, which now links Benalmadena Pueblo to its Costa. Being at the centre of things it has grown into a fantastic area for getting a bite to eat and shopping to your heart’s content.
