behind the scenes
We dressed
up as “Mork
& Mindy” for
our Retro
episode! The
hair says it
all!
W
ith my first child on the way, I find myself looking at
things a little differently. The importance of creating
a design concept that is both stylish and practical has
climbed up all the way to the top of my priority list.
As one that has spent years as a bachelor, I never had
to think twice about things like: “What if that expensive vase were to
smash into a million pieces?” I bought it, took care of it and still have
it to this day.
They said I wasn’t
outdoorsy... Well I sure
showed them when
I showed up on set
in hip waders for our
Camping episode!
As tales of parenthood are shared (by everyone!), there seems to
be a common thread within them. It usually involves a keepsake and
a child breaking it. Suddenly, I realize how many fragile things we
have in our home. I love accessorizing, so you can can only imagine
our tables perfectly stacked with books, family memorabilia and
florals. It’s what I do!
As Mandy and I start this exciting journey into parenthood, I’ve
been pinning images I find on Pinterest (Check out our pins
@HomeTrendsMag). There are so many family-friendly designs
out there (Check out How-to Style a Family Room on page 42)
and the use of creativity and whimsy in these spaces is genius! I’ve
seen everything from chalkboard walls to nurseries with a Victorian
influence (See Pretty in Pink on page 102).
Mandy and I put
on our pajamas
(my batman suit)
when we hosted
our Pajama
Party on set! The
only day I got to
work from bed!
#LovedIt
When we chat next, I’ll be a proud papa. I’ll be sure to take plenty
of photos. I’ve joked with Mandy, telling her that I’ll bring the TV
crew of the Marc and Mandy Show to the hospital while she’s in
labour. She didn’t laugh, but I’m sure she’ll come around.
Happy renovating!
