Quilts have come a long way since our grandmothers’
time. Originally they were strictly a utilitarian piece
used to keep beds warm. Quilts were also hung on
doors and windows to help temperature control a
home. Today, they have become a stylish accent but
still remain just as versatile. - Text by Negar Reihani

Quilts aren’t just for keeping your toes warm on a cold night, they also
make great accent pieces in a room. Add a pop of colour and texture on a
hard surface with a light quilt repurposed into a tablecloth.
One way or another, we can still incorporate a quilt in our
everyday lives that pays homage to our ancestors and the
history that is behind this heirloom. With all new designs
and patterns, quilts are still a great way to add a unique
look to a bedroom.

Hanging Out
Nowadays, quilts have
evolved into elements
of design, both in their
patterns and usage.
What used to be merely
a serviceable item is now
considered an “objet d’art.”
Designers have so perfectly
incorporated quilts into
spaces that it’s difficult to
imagine them without it.
