Home Trends - RENOVATION ISSUE | Page 14

Renovation Adventures Renovations are the ultimate test for a marriage. Any couple that has gone through a reno understands that they are not always easy and they can put a strain on a relationship. It makes us wonder if we should have added in our marriage vows, "I promise to be true to our design concept, in sickness and in health and even on the days when I have been living without a kitchen for four weeks." They say just when you are on the brink of losing hope, when things couldn't get worst, that's when everything is about to take a sudden turn. The rainbow beyond the storm. For instance, you find out that the product you had your eye on is on back-order for six weeks further delaying the completion of your reno. When this happens don't lose steam, there is always hope. In my experience, when a desired product isn't available, I always find something better. Renovations can also be a lot of fun if you go with the flow. So, the flooring you ordered was installed in the wrong colour. Before panicking, take a closer look and see if all of your design elements still work with the new flooring colour. You may be surprised to find out that the new colour pairs better with the other elements than your original selection. If all else fails, consider modifying your colour scheme to suit the new floor. A can of paint is more cost efficient than ripping out and replacing flooring. At the end of the day, have fun with your reno. Don't stress, design problems tend to work themselves out in the end.
