A few short months later, on a secluded white, sandy beach, a
shooting star flew across the sky. "We should wish upon a star." she
said. He dropped to his knee, "I wish you'd spend the rest of your life
with me. Mandy, will you marry me?" She shrieked "YES!" and months
later they were married. Well, those two crazy kids are your parents
and that is how I met your mother.
Your mother seems to think that I'll be a good father. I have my
doubts, but what new father doesn't? What do I know about raising a
special little girl like you? As we embark on this journey, I've decided
to explain a few things to you. Let's call it a Daddy Decoder.
#1 Daddy works a lot. Probably longer hours than the average
Daddy, BUT know this: I will drop everything the minute you need
anything. Simply nudge my shoulder, utter the word “Daddy” and
you'll have my attention. I love you more than anything and I will
always make time for you, no matter what deadline is around the
corner.
#2 If Daddy is disciplining you, know that I'm doing this for your
own good. Believe me, when you are being mischievous, there will
be times when I'll want to laugh and tell you that you are as cute as a
button, but I won't. I will, however, try to give you structure and love,
the tools that will help you become the amazing woman that I know
you'll become.
T
To my daughter...
his is a story of two people who met, fell in love and
thought the world was at their fingertips. He was a
workaholic and she was the sugar to his spice. The
night they met, they sat in a little coffee shop for
hours till the staff started sweeping around them and finally had to
tell them that they had been closed for the night for some time now.
That night, as he drove home, he said to himself, "I'm going to marry
that girl!".
{A few things I love}
#3 Daddy loves design! Everything in our house will match and be
staged in such a way. Daddy loves colour, pattern, and everything
in between. You'll probably find me bringing a few gallons of paint
home and grabbing rollers and repainting a room every so often.
As Mommy says, "Just learn to love it!" I hope you'll love design as
much as I do, and when the day comes when you are brought into
this world, I look forward to introducing you to all of our wonderful
Home Trends Magazine readers.
#4 Yes, our puppy, Nicki, matches our living room rug (see tip
above).
#5 Mommy and Daddy host a national show called the Marc
and Mandy Show. Yes, we'll be sharing embarrassing stories about
you every chance we get – because that's what proud parents do!
Please be courteous to all our wonderful staff, crew, studio audience
members and viewers at home. They are the reason that Daddy and
Mommy get to do what they love.
#6 Mommy loves trying new recipes. Whether it's good or not,
smile and say "yum". Remember, don't bite the hand that feeds us.
Oh, and don't tell her I told you this!
#7 Finally, if you have a drop of your mother in you, I will love you
with all my heart. She is one of the most amazing people I know and
the beat of my heart.
I await your delivery into this world and the amazing journey we'll
be able to share with our readers here at Home Trends Magazine.
