5 Sunburn A sunburn is a burn on the skin produced by overexposure to the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. The symptoms of sunburn are: Red skin that is painful and hot to touch, and mild dizziness and tiredness. The skin damage is often permanent and can have serious long-term health effects, including skin cancer . A sunburn can be life-threatening and is a leading cause of cancer. A similar burn can be produced by overexposure to other sources of UV such as tanning lamps. A sunburn can be prevented by using: sunscreen, clothing and by limiting exposure especially during the middle of the day. Home Remedies for Sunburn Smear plain yogurt as a home remedy, let it stand for a few minutes, rinse off under cool water. Squeeze 3 lemons and mix into 2 cups of cold water, apply on the sunburn. Apply avocado paste on the burned skin to treat naturally. Make a compress of whole milk and apply to the burned area for 20 minutes and wash. Repeat every 2-4 hours. 9
