Trends
Nothing is more
exciting than
updating your home
and the new year is
the perfect time to do
so. The professionals
attending the 2014
Home Products
Show shared a little
of what’s popular
right now, including
painted cabinets, gray
as the new neutral
and wood flooring
with an oil-finished
look.
“Everybody wants
gray,” said Lacie
2014HomeProductsShow
Alford of Gibson
Interiors (booths 407,
409). Large format
porcelain tiles in stone
or stained concrete,
or wide plank wood
flooring with an oilfinished look are other
new changes, added
Neil Gibson.
Wayne Wigley
of Wigley’s Paint
(booth 442) also is
seeing many requests
for grays. “They’ve
replaced brown as
the new neutral,” he
said. Green-friendly,
“no smell” VLC paint
is also trendy, as is
charcoal as the “new
chocolate” for 2014,
he added.
Painting, instead
of replacing, wood
cabinets is a big trend,
said Roland Rivas of
Kelly-Moore Paint
(booth 314). “People
are saving a lot of
money by painting
cabinets instead of
replacing them,” he
said.
Jeremy Pendleton of
the Design Super Store
(booths 127, 226)
agreed that painting
cabinets is hot right,
adding that vinyl plank
has taken off, too.
“It’s easy to replace
and water doesn’t hurt
it,” he said. There’s
also a shift from the
distressed look to a
more contemporary
look with cleaner lines,
he added.
You won’t want
to miss a visit to
Southern Cabinets
(booth 330) and talk
to Rodney Holt for
the latest style in
cabinetry.
For appliances,
Ashley Blossman
of Ferguson Bath,
Kitchen & Lighting
(booths 430, 428, 426,
331, 329, 327) said
