After leaving behind a rich legacy
and long list of accomplishments as
mayor of Arlington, Richard Greene
continues to live his American Dream
in Arlington alongside his wife, Sylvia.
Greene developed a winning plan
to build a new ballpark for the Texas
Rangers as part of a proposed public-
private partnership. Arlington voters
overwhelmingly approved the plan in
1991, the largest-ever voter turnout in
a local election.
Opening Day in The American Dream City
The Texas Rangers will host the Houston Astros in the club’s 2018 season opener on Thursday, March 29, at
2:35 p.m. CT, the earliest date on which the Rangers has ever opened a season, previous earliest being March
30, 2003 at Anaheim. This will mark the 27th time in 47 seasons the Rangers have opened at home, the
third straight and the eighth occasion in the last 10 years. The Rangers will also host Houston on Friday and
Saturday, March 30-31, and Sunday, April 1, before opening the road schedule with four games in Oakland,
April 2-5.
