ADDITIONAL PARKING
SECURED FOR
BALLPARK VISITORS
ASK the
EXPERTS
More than 730 new parking spaces are available to
Globe Life Park visitors this season thanks to a deal
between the City of Arlington and Oncor.
The City licensed the use of the Oncor-owned
parking lot to help replace Globe Life Park parking
spaces lost to construction of the $250 million
Texas Live! entertainment complex and the
upcoming construction of the new ballpark. Those
projects are being built on what are currently team
parking lots south of Randol Mill Road.
The City has hired the Texas Rangers to operate
the parking lot. The Rangers will pay the City an
operator fee, which will cover the cost to lisence
the lot.
The parking lot is located on Randol Mill Road east
of Magic Mile Street.
HKS TALKS ABOUT
DESIGN
The City of Arlington’s Office of Communication
talked to HKS principal designer Fred Ortiz about the
features fans can expect to see at the new Rangers
Ballpark in 2020.
Ortiz discussed what’s going to set the new ballpark
apart from other MLB ballparks, how it’s going to
connect to Texas Live!, the process for the HKS team
over the next few years and how the retractable roof
is going to play into the design. HKS – ranked as one
of the top sports and entertainment design firms
in the country – was announced as the designer for
the new Texas Rangers ballpark in January 2017.
The firm has ushered in a new generation of multi-
revenue-generating, world-class sports facilities
worldwide including serving as the architect of
record on The Ballpark in Arlington (now Globe Life
Park in Arlington), which opened in 1994.
“For us, the new Texas Rangers Ballpark
development is very special. It carries its own
rich identity based on a combination of tradition,
heritage, character and ambition that will ultimately
represent itself as the premier destination in North
Texas,” said HKS’ Bryan Trubey, executive vice
president and principal designer on the project.
“We are delighted to be part of this exciting new
development that will impact not only the Texas
Rangers and their fans, but the City of Arlington and
the entire region for many years to come.”
