“I love my new Joe Cariati hand-blown vases. My husband picked out three for me this Christmas directly from the studio in El Segundo. They are proudly displayed on my mantle.”

“On the living room wall hangs a ‘Libros en Espanol’ fixture from my Borders bookstore that closed in 2011. Glad to own a piece of what is now (unfortunately) history!”
What’s Your Style?
Is it ever possible to have too much inspiration? That’s the challenge I recently encountered after moving, then choosing a fresh look for my new pad. I’m a bit of a home design junkie. I subscribe to more shelter magazines then I have time to read. I “pin” design inspirations for a Palm Springs home that I have yet to own. I devote so many evenings to HGTV programming, they should just bequeath me the Dream House. The problem with my addiction is the access it grants me … to many, many design possibilities. I’ll never have the property or space to satisfy all my design impulses, but that’s not going to curb my habits. I just enjoy great interior design and architecture too much. And to complicate matters even further, we’re offering a whole new batch of inspiration right here on these pages. Welcome to the third edition of Southbay HOME. Proving once again there’s no shortage of incredible work in the South Bay, our new issue opens the doors to several local homes, each with their own unique style and execution. Discover how homeowner, architect, designer, contractor and more work together to realize the perfect home for an ideal lifestyle. They’re unique. They’re personalized. They’re 100% South Bay. “As a former Southern antique dealer specializing in 19th-century American antiques and art, I love my collection of Southeastern Piedmont glazed pottery in sage green. They are interspersed with pieces by renowned contemporary potters, and all are displayed on very clean, modern, white shelves and on pedestals for a mix of old and new that lets each object speak about the artist and time and place of creation.”

“I would say my glass trophy Non-Fiction Book of the Year Award 2010 from ForeWord Reviews. It sits on top of my bookshelf amongst old cameras I don’t use any more. The answer my wife would appreciate is our wedding photo of us kissing at the alter, hanging in our hallway!”
