THE DESIGNERS DESCRIBE YOUR FEATURED PROJECT. This home is a beautiful Gary Lane design/ build—Nantucket style. The interior design reflects the clients’ personal taste of contemporary, casual living. I used many highly durable fabrics so the couple did not have to worry about their twins! The clients had photographed several furniture pieces from a recent Hawaii trip, so we used these as inspiration to create several of the upholstered pieces for their home. I love the color palates. { CAROLINE BURKE Caroline Burke Designs 1020 Manhattan Beach Boulevard, Suite #210 in Manhattan Beach 310-546-6862 [email protected] carolineburkedesigns.com WHAT IS THE PHILOSOPHY OF YOUR COMPANY, AND HOW DOES THAT AFFECT THE WAY YOU PRACTICE INTERIOR DESIGN? Caroline Burke Designs is a boutique interior design company that specializes in creating beautiful, timeless and durable designs for clients. My philosophy is that beautiful interior design supports a happy, healthy lifestyle, and I treat every client’s house as if it’s my own home. Therefore, there are two things that make my company special. First, I am very client-focused. I take the time to get to know my clients and their lifestyle so their homes represent them. I want my clients to have interiors that are beautiful, comfortable and durable. Second, quality and construction of furniture is important to me. We manufacture all of our upholstered pieces locally, and that allows me to make custom, quality pieces that fit rooms properly. I love when my clients say. “I love it; I can’t believe this is MY home!” Happiness is everything in a home, and that is what we create. WHAT MAKES YOUR COMPANY UNIQUE IN THE SOUTH BAY? My education includes a degree in economics as well as an interior design degree. As such, I run my design company as a real business. We are organized, professional, specific and highly detailed. We make our proposals and paperwork very clear. Additionally, we have a great office with in-house resources. We have a huge library of sources including fabrics, rugs and furniture. I go to the Pacific Design Center every two months to make sure I stay current on new products in the market. I travel to High Point, North Carolina for the furniture market, as well as to Maison d’Objet in Paris to watch the European market. Timeless design, quality products and excellent customer service is the formula for our success. WHAT DO YOU SEE ON THE HORIZON FOR DESIGN IN THE SOUTH BAY? I think the South Bay buyer understands interior design and the value of good design. They understand the positive impact on their daily life and also the added value to the property. I think clients here are starting to truly understand this concept and investing in their homes and the happiness of their life. /oursouthbay oursouthbay.com 107
