Lights of Remembrance
Lights of Remembrance is an annual
event to remember loved ones and to be
uplifted by what they mean to us. This
year’s Lights of Remembrance “Cheer-ity”
event took place Nov. 15 at 5:15 p.m. and
welcomed in the holiday season with enter-
tainment from Bolivar Intermediate School
Bell Ringers and Singers in addition to
recognizing three individuals with special
awards including Hospice Light Award,
Hospice Partner in Care Award, and the
Sue McCoy Hospice Service Award.
The Hospice Light Award is given to
a person or business that has gone above
and beyond to help provide excellent care
to our hospice patients as a way of show-
ing our appreciation for helping us do our
job even better.
The Hospice Partner in Care Award is
given to someone in the CMH network
that has helped and supported Hospice
and our mission to provide the very best
care to our patients.
The Sue McCoy Hospice Service
Award is voted on by the Hospice staff
and given to a Hospice employee who has
shown PRIDE, compassion and devotion
to the Hospice field. The individual goes
above and beyond, on a daily basis, so our
patients and families receive nothing but
the best care possible. This years recipi-
ents were: Rose Roweton, Hospice Light
Award; Chad Carrel, P.A., Hospice Partner
in Care Award; and Sharron Kennedy,
R.N., Sue McCoy Hospice Service Award.
The purpose of the annual Lights of
Remembrance “Cheer-ity” event is to
honor the life of a loved one, support the
Hospice philosophy of living life fully,
comfortably and dying with dignity, and to
involve the community in the support of
Hospice care. Individuals can make dona-
tions in honor of family and friends, or in
memory of loved ones. The lights that
decorated the tree are dedicated to those
people who were honored or memori-
alized. Giving to the Lights of Remem-
brance program provides donations in our
area to ensure that physical, emotional,
spiritual and bereavement care is given to
all terminally ill patients and their families.
CMH Hospice caregivers strive to help
patients remain as comfortable as pos-
sible at home, or in a homelike setting,
with family and friends. The program also
provides support to the families after the
death of a loved one through a bereave-
ment program.
