A historical Mount
Vernon kitchen
remodel inspired by
traditional elements
in the home
We collaborated with our clients by incorporating a new layout and design for their
kitchen and sitting room that derived
from the traditional design of the home.
Our focus was to update their space while
retaining its history, by blending new
elements with their traditional style. We
opened the kitchen to the sitting room by
replacing a wall between them with a penninsula. White-painted, Shaker-style cabinetry was installed with a custom wood
hood over the range and integrated custom cabinet panels on the appliances. We
included many interior conveniences for
storage and function in the cabinetry. We
removed a small window and door to the
patio and installed large French doors to
create a seamless feel between the indoor
and outdoor living spaces.
PROJECT FEATURES:
• Beautiful and functional kitchen design and finishes inspired by the historical aesthetic
of the home. • A honed Calcutta marble countertop and full marble-slab backsplash with
traditional farm sink. • Custom matched-to-original hardwood floors and wood ceiling
beams with tongue-and-groove paneling.
