Traveling is the best, isn’t it? Visiting a new
city for the first time, learning about a culture
different than your own, and most importantly,
making memories you’ll never forget. Here are
a few tips to help you have a fabulous excursion, both in the U.S. and abroad!
Consider staying at a B&B. Surprisingly,
these cozy homes tend to be less expensive
than a standard hotel, and you’ll also receive
a delicious, home-cooked breakfast! It’s also
a wonderful opportunity to meet and make
friends from all over the country.
Ask locals for must-sees. If you’d rather not
stay on the beaten path, talk to locals – your
waiter, your B&B owner, etc. - about what you
need to do while in town. Chances are, the
places they share will probably be much more
interesting (and less pricey) than a tourist attraction.
Don’t plan a minute-by-minute itinerary. Of
course, it’s smart to have some ideas of what
you’d like to do each day, but giving yourself
the opportunity to fall into unexpected plans
is so exciting! You never know who you’ll encounter or what you’ll discover in a new city, so
allow a little leeway for surprises.
Public transit. If you are, let’s say, in NYC
for the first time, you have to take a taxi at
least once to get that great NYC ‘feel’…you
just have to! But, that can also be a quick way
to dwindle your trip budget. Take those stairs
down to the subway to experience a whole
new side of the city, for a much better cost!
Consider train and bus travel, too.
