Girls hitters and we deservedly ran out winners 3-0 . The trophy we won has been going since 1984 and we have now won it 11 times . The next best school is Karamu with eight wins .
Girls B : HBSS League Division One Such is the strength of girls volleyball at Havelock North Division one . This exposes them to a much higher intensity of volleyball . They learn to defend against harder hitters and need to be super organised with regard to running their team systems . Without doubt their best result in a competition cut short because of COVID-19 was their 36 all draw with Napier Girls ’ High School A . Girls Social : HBSS League Division Four This team contained a mixture of players new to school , new to volleyball and a couple who had played socially now for a number of years . At times , they struggled to best results was actually a narrow 0-2 loss to Karamu B . It was great to see the girls step up to the challenge of playing a B team . Girls Setters : HBSS League Division Three The core of this team have now played together three years in a row . As a result they quickly gelled and the new players were easily slotted into the team ’ s system . Their best result was a dominant 3-0 victory over Taradale D . The girls all seemed to enjoy their time on court and will no doubt be back again next year . Girls Y10 Development : HBSS League Division Two This group of very able athletes were entered in the highly competitive senior division two . The focus for them was to learn the systems required for playing volleyball at a much higher level . For some , this was a real challenge but by the end of the season they had all improved considerably . Their best result was their 44-33 win against Hastings Christian School B . Girls Y9 Development : HBSS League Division Four A group of keen Year 9 girls signed up to play in term one . The aim for them was to improve their basic skills and make the transition into the junior league in term four a much more seamless process . They all enjoyed their games and were eager to soak up the advice given to them by their coaches . The attitude the majority displayed was commendable . The core of this group have now been selected in our 9A team for the term four competition . Girls Turquoise : HBSS League Division Four This is the second year that the majority of this team have played together . Also , being friends meant they worked well and enjoyed each others company . They improved their skills and won a number of games . Their best result was their 60-48 win against the Havelock North High School Social girls who were all senior students .
