HAUORA COMMITTEE

This year at Havelock North High School , the Hauora Committee has achieved many great things despite everything that 2020 has thrown at us . We started the year off in term one by making our committee more known to the community and school by having a face painting stand set up at the International Food Festival which was a huge success . In term three , our main event was Mental Health Week which was also a very big success . We had Schoology posts every day to help students who suffer from mental health or general stress from school based on the theme of ��������� �������� ����������� ��� ������ ���� ���� ����� ��� term four we had Pink Shirt day , which happens all around New Zealand . Our school had a great turn out of people wearing pink to raise awareness of issues around bullying . We are also in the process of constructing a wellness wall in the 100 block break out room , with positive messages for people to read and take on board around mental health and wellbeing . During the year we changed our committee name . It had been called A Good Place 2B , and after much discussion we decided to change it to the Hauora Committee . It is shorter , and we believe it has a better ���������������������������������������������������� is all about . students of our school with . Thanks to Mr Bradshaw and Ms Evans-Love for your help and guidance this year , we hope the committee continues to grow and help people around the school .

The word Hauora is a Māori philosophy of health and wellbeing which is unique to New Zealanders . It encompasses all aspects of someone ’ s wellbeing which is what our committee wants to help the
