Meaghan Broad was an integral part of the NZ Under-21 Womens ’ Canoe Polo team who became World Champions in August this year .
Meaghan was selected in early 2022 after training towards this goal for a number of years . She was the youngest member of the team ( that also included ex- HNHS students Greer Edilson and Ashlee Greaves ) and the only current school girl in the national team . Meaghan had to attend a number of training camps around the country during the year .
The international trip also included warm-up events in Ireland and Poland . The world champs were held in France , and New Zealand were undefeated in all their games . The final was against Germany , who had won this world title five times , but the New Zealand team prevailed , 3-2 in a very tense match . Congratulations to Meaghan , for her hard work in preparation for this competition , as well as her amazing performances as part of that World Champion team !
