The purpose of the Hauora Committee is to work together to improve student wellbeing in the school .
The four aspects of Hauora are ; Taha hinengaro - mental health Taha wairua - spiritual health Taha whānau - family health Taha tinana - physical health
As a committee , we realised that the aspect of student wellbeing that was the most lacking in the school was mental health . The main focus this year was on taha hinengaro . toxic masculinity and the domino effect . During Mental Health Week we created schoology posts with a focus on a different mental health condition each day . We posted on schoology because it ’ s easily accessible to students and anonymous for anyone to read the information . Written was a description of the mental health condition followed by resources , apps , links and a contact to the guidance counsellor . It ’ s been a good year and we hope we ’ ve been able to invoke some change in the school .

This year the Hauora Committee has created ‘ Unwind ’ which is a place for students who are struggling to make friends or just need a place to chill at lunchtime to relieve themselves from the stresses of school . There were board games , colouring , and music . We have also raised money for the Mental Health Foundation on Pink Shirt day . The day was significant because there was a huge turnout of students wearing pink , far greater than previous years , which was very cool to see . This also meant that we were able to raise a far greater amount for the Mental Health Foundation than in previous years , which was also very exciting ! In total we raised $ 546 that day . We attended the black ribbon conference / workshop which is an organisation that brings awareness and is fighting to stop family violence . They support victims to create a safer environment for themselves . They talk a lot about
