2021 has been another successful year for Havelock North High School netball . We have been well represented in Hawke ’ s Bay netball having ten teams entered into the local competition . It has been another disruptive season like last year . Although , being able to play the majority of the season without any hiccups was a blessing . However , it was unfortunate to have the end of the season cut short . Most of our teams had two games left to play , which included the last round robin game and finals . I know a lot of students were disappointed to not finish the season on a high .
Netball Highlights for 2021 include : Our Senior A team managing to finish in the top four teams in the Super 12 competition . Due to Covid they missed their play-off game for 3rd and 4th . All other grades determined winners using points accumulated over the year . This meant we had the Junior Prems and Senior C teams win their grades , and the Senior B , 9A and 10B teams came runners-up .
Representative players : Hawke ’ s Bay U18 -Jess White Hawke ’ s Bay U16 White - Elle Lovatt , Lucy Smith and Sofia Lumbreras . A big congratulations to Lucy Smith who gained her Zone Centre umpiring badge this year .
Special thanks must go to the following parents , teachers and students who have coached or managed a team : Julie and Arona WIlliams , Amanda Onekawa , Nicky Johnson , Bridget Broadhurst , Tammy Bishop , Tess McSherry , Felicity Potoe , Sofia Lumbreras , Emma Jowsey , Freya Knipe , Tonya Sharp , Trina Petterson , Elle Lovatt , Jess White , and Emily Herd . The time and effort they put into practices , games , and management of players is exceptional . We appreciate all your help this season . We have been so lucky to have so many competent umpires in the Senior A and Senior B netball teams who have umpired all our Saturday games when required . Thank you so much for your efforts as we wouldn ’ t be able to have the teams we do without you !
To the girls - you should be proud of your achievements this year . As with any sport there are always the highs and the lows . It has been great to see the way you have participated and always shown fair play and determination . There were many close games and many of our teams were playing against higher ranked teams from other schools . We look forward to seeing you at netball trials in 2022 !
