Cadenza 2021
Established in 2019 , Cadenza is held over two days in three regional centres around NZ and blends a formal , adjudicated competition with combined-choir workshops-rehearsals , culminating in a gala concert with awards . Voix de Femmes , our top auditioned female choir , was chosen once again to partake in Cadenza held in Whanganui . The awards that the choirs aim for are split into three categories of iconic singing birds : Tui , Korimako ( Bellbird ) and Wharauroa ( Shining Cuckoo ). With 16 girls , accompanist Elijah Moore , Mr Christensen , Mr Cargill and Andrea Wilson in tow , we set off for the competition and the choir did our school proud with their four pieces , ‘ Down in the River to Pray ’, ‘ Weep no More ’, ‘ My Song ’, and ‘ Adiemus ’ earning them a Korimako award , making them the top Hawke ’ s Bay Choir . We sadly farwell our Year 13 student members of Voix de Femmes , Poppy Kelly , Holly Renwick , Aida Mackenzie-Maple and Min-Joo Kim . Thank you so much for all your years of service to the choir . We will greatly miss you .
