Foundation Apprenticeships
A Foundation Apprenticeship ( or FA , as it is often referred to ) is a vocational qualification that provides the opportunity to develop new knowledge and skills in the classroom whilst also experiencing work-based learning in a local business or organisation .
As a school pupil , a Foundation Apprenticeship gives you early exposure to the world of work , helping you to develop the skills , experience , and knowledge you ’ ll need when you leave school .
It ’ s the chance to get a head start in your career by gaining an industry-recognised qualification , work on real projects and broaden your career options .
Foundation Apprenticeships are now recognised by all colleges and universities , and you can use them , along with other SQA National 5 / Higher qualifications , to gain access to a Modern Apprenticeship or Higher Education course , including degree pathways . You may also be able to access some Higher National Certificate ( HNC ) study routes at Fife College with your FA qualification and no SQA Higher qualifications .
There are currently 16 Foundation Apprenticeships on offer in Fife covering a range of subjects including Accountancy ; Business Skills ; Engineering ; Creative and Digital Media ; Software Development ; Science ; and Social Services .
