Progressing from college to university
Fife College offers defined routes to degree programmes in partnership with a wide range of universities across Scotland and the UK . You will probably see this referred to as an Articulation Route .
An articulation route is a pathway between a full-time HN course such as a HNC or HND and a degree course , which has been formally agreed between the College and a university .
These routes are reviewed annually by each university and the College to make sure that the content of your HN course aligns to the content of the first year ( or first two years ) of your chosen degree to ensure a smooth transition to degree study .
If an articulation route is in place , it means that you could get direct entry into a degree ; with a HNC you could get direct entry to year 2 and with a HND you could move straight to year 3 at university . Some of our articulation routes with specific universities have guaranteed places for our students . However , these are still dependent on you meeting specific grade criteria and receiving a supporting College academic reference . This ensures that you can continue to move forward with your studies without repeating material and , if you continue to study in Scotland , you can finish your Ordinary degree in three years or Honours degree in four years , just as you would have done if you had gone straight to university .
Alternatively , you can opt to study elsewhere in the UK and get an Honours degree in three years – but course fees will apply .
But , if you ’ d rather continue to study for your degree locally , the College also offers a range of university awarded degree courses which are delivered entirely on Fife College campuses . See page 10 for more information .
